The Health Officer is responsible for overseeing all health and medical services at camp to ensure the safety and well-being of campers and staff. This role manages the camp health lodge, responds to medical incidents, maintains health records, and ensures compliance with organizational and regulatory standards. The Health Officer also monitors camp-wide health and safety conditions, coordinates with local emergency services and medical facilities, and trains staff on first aid procedures and health protocols.
Key responsibilities include conducting camper health screenings upon arrival, maintaining daily health logs and medical documentation, managing first aid supplies and emergency procedures, and providing guidance to staff regarding health-related concerns. The Health Officer supports the Camp Director with health and safety assessments, ensures the health lodge remains clean and properly equipped, and prepares end-of-season reports and recommendations to improve future operations. This position requires strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to respond effectively to both routine and emergency medical situations.

The Ranger supports the overall operation, maintenance, and safety of camp facilities, grounds, and equipment in accordance with the standards set by Scouting America and Greater Los Angeles Scouting. Working closely with the Facilities Manager and Head Ranger, this position helps ensure the camp remains safe, functional, and welcoming for campers, staff, and visitors.
The Ranger conducts routine inspections of buildings, utilities, campsites, trails, and program areas, performing basic repairs and maintenance as needed. This role also helps identify potential safety or maintenance concerns before they become larger issues, maintains sanitation and waste disposal, and supports both daily operational needs and longer-term facility projects. The Ranger must remain alert to conditions affecting health, safety, and cleanliness across camp and respond promptly to facility-related concerns. Regular participation in staff meetings and reliable radio communication while on site are also required.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work in an outdoor environment and takes pride in maintaining safe, well-kept facilities that support a high-quality camp experience.
Qualifications
Must be 21 years of age or older
Valid Driver’s License
Preferred experience working in a camp, park, or outdoor recreation setting
Preferred knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, or mechanical systems
Familiarity with outdoor safety standards and emergency procedures
